The Program

Our 8-Application Approach

  1. Applications 1–2 Winter & Early Spring

Pre-emergent applications help prevent spring weeds before they germinate, along with targeted treatment of existing broadleaf and grassy weeds.

  2. Applications 3–4 Spring & Early Summer

As turf begins actively growing, we transition into fertilization and weed control to encourage healthy growth, improved color, and thicker turf.

  3. Applications 5–6 Summer

Seasonal fertilization and targeted weed treatments help maintain turf health through the demanding North Texas summer while addressing weeds that appear during the growing season.

  4. Applications 7–8 Fall & Winter Preparation

Fall pre-emergent treatments help prevent cool-season weeds, while properly timed nutrients support root development and prepare the lawn for winter dormancy and the following growing season.

Know the Enemy

The Weeds We Deal With Around Here

North Texas gets weed pressure nearly year-round, and what shows up in March is not what shows up in July. These are the ones we see most.

  • Crabgrass

A summer annual that takes hold fast in thin turf and hot weather. Once it is up you are fighting it all season, which is why the pre-emergent goes down before you would ever see a blade of it.

  • Dallisgrass

A perennial clump grass and the toughest customer on this list. It comes back from the root, so it needs targeted treatment rather than a broadcast spray, and usually more than one pass.

  • Nutsedge

Not actually a grass. It grows faster than the turf around it, so you see it standing tall a day after mowing. It spreads underground, which means pulling it makes it worse.

  • Dandelions

The one everybody recognizes. Easy to kill and easy to reseed itself from three yards over, so the answer is a treatment schedule rather than a one-time spray.

  • Clover

Usually a sign the lawn is hungry. Clover does well where turf is underfed, so the fix is killing what is there and then feeding the grass hard enough to crowd it out.

  • Henbit & Chickweed

Cool-season weeds that take over a dormant lawn through the winter and are in full bloom before the grass wakes up. Fall pre-emergent is what keeps them from ever getting started.

Why It Works

Why a Program Beats a Bottle

A jug from the hardware store kills what it touches today. It does nothing about what germinates next month.

  • Timing Does the Heavy Lifting

Pre-emergent has to be down before seeds germinate, and that window moves with the weather every year. Miss it by two weeks and you spend the rest of the season chasing what came up.

  • Thick Turf Is the Real Weed Control

Weeds move into bare ground and thin spots. Feeding the grass so it fills in does more long-term good than any amount of spraying, which is why the program handles both together.

  • The Right Product for the Right Weed

What kills dandelions will not touch dallisgrass. Knowing which is which, and treating accordingly, is the difference between a lawn that clears up and one that does not.

  • And We Show Up

Eight visits, on schedule, without you having to call and ask where we are. That consistency is most of the reason the program works.
